In the winter, I am all about Porters and Stouts! Iron Keel happens to be a type of Porter that you don’t see very often - a Baltic Porter. So what is a Baltic Porter?
A Baltic Porter is a higher-ABV dark beer originating in the Baltic region (think Baltic Sea countries). It is a lager-style dark beer brewed with lager yeast, resulting in a smooth, rich, malty brew. I like that it's so warming without being barrel-aged!
Iron Keel from Corn Coast Brewing nails the Baltic Porter style with roasty chocolate and coffee notes in a smooth, rich body. This Porter is warming, coming in at 8.3% ABV. Personally, I believe this is the best Baltic Porter I have ever had.
Cheers!
