First snow calls for a nice, warming barrel-aged Stout! BA Stout: Uncut 2025 was released this week by Corn Coast Brewing, and I was able to get my hands on some.

I like barrel-aged stouts that aren’t too sweet. This one has chocolate notes, a thick body, and great legs left on the glass. This year’s BA Stout was aged in a Blanton’s bourbon barrel. The bourbon and oak notes are present but not overwhelming in this 11% ABV stout.

Santa, that is a firepit, not a chimney.

It seems to be a trend that barrel-aged beers have been on the decline for the past five years. I think the craft beer-drinker demographic plays into a desire for lower-ABV beers. I seek barrel-aged beers to enjoy around the holidays, as others do with a nice bottle of wine.

I admire the breweries that still make small batches, knowing the process takes a great deal of time, patience, and expense. I hope that breweries like Corn Coast Brewing continue the tradition of releasing the BA Stout around Thanksgiving.

On a side note, Santa made the delivery but did not partake in the stout. It is Christmas training season, and a lot of practice is needed before the big day.

Cheers!
